A Condition Called Love

On a snowy day, high school girl Hotaru offers her umbrella to her handsome and intelligent classmate Hananoi. Later, he asks her out.

Inexperienced in romance, Hotaru isn't sure how she should act as Hananoi's girlfriend. She decides to follow some advice from Shibamu.

Fearing that her relationship with Hananoi has ended on an awkward note, Hotaru decides to spend Christmas Eve with her family as usual.

Hotaru, her friends and Hananoi visit a shrine in the new year. When the boys are asked to buy snacks, Hananoi tells Keigo to stay out of his way.

Hotaru isn’t sure how to respond when her coworker asks to be introduced to Hananoi. Later, she notices that Hananoi doesn't seem to have any friends.

Hotaru wants to tell Hananoi she loves him but can't find the words. Later, at her part-time job, she reunites with her childhood friend Yao.

Hananoi is happy to hear how Hotaru feels, but he asks her a surprising question. Soon after, they are interrupted when his grandmother returns home.

Wishing to spend more time with Hotaru, Hananoi begins working at the bookstore too. Hotaru worries that he won’t get along with everyone there.

Hotaru makes plans to go see the cherry blossoms with Hananoi on his birthday, but she learns her grandpa's memorial service falls on the same day.

At the start of a new school year, Hotaru and Hananoi are placed in separate classes. Hotaru wonders how to balance her relationships.
